About Xirosterni
Xirosterni is a much improved and pretty little village in the heart of the rolling Apokoronas countryside, set off the road from Vamos to Kefalas. Recently, all the stone boundary walls in the village have been rebuilt, the kafeneon is now fully open again and the roads have all been recently resurfaced.

There is now a very convenient short cut through Gavalochori to Almirida with its long sandy beaches and seaside tavernas which is now only about 5 minutes drive away.

Vamos is about 4 minutes drive away, and is the local shopping and administrative centre, and has several excellent tavernas. Litsarda (the next village to the South-east) has an excellent pizzeria which is deservedly popular.

The countryside outside Xirosterni is pretty much the same as it was 50 years agom with wide panoramic views across unspoiled countryside to the whole of Souda Bay and the sea.
